Peacock Springs CSO Committee Update March 2005

We held our March meeting on the 12th.

In a short business meeting we approved spending for the CSO Committee to sponsor a kiosk for Troy Springs State Park. We will provide the information on the Madison, whose remains still lie in the spring opening. We are also going to provide a small kiosk to be placed in the river at the site of the Madison. At the February meeting we decided to sponsor the kiosk at Ichetucknee Springs State Park to be placed at the head spring. We then enjoyed a great lunch held in honor of Mike and Beverly Heathcott, the volunteers who have been residing at the volunteer camp site. We presented them with a plaque of appreciation, a gift certificate for Texas Roadhouse, sweatshirts  with an alligator on the front and cave system map T-shirts. The food was delicious and a good time was had by all attending. Park Manager Tom Brown and Ranger Patty Martin from ISSP were present as was Mebane Cory-Ogden of Troy SSP.

The next meeting will be held April 9th at the Grove at noon. We will also hold a litter pick up that day along the Luraville Road. We will start at 9 AM to try to beat the heat. We will then take the month of May off having a meeting June 11th we will then take the summer off with the next meeting to be held Sept. 10th.
We hope to see you at a future meeting.
Another date to remember is the NSS-CDS Workshop held Memorial Day weekend, May 28th.
