| We held our monthly meeting at Orange Grove on Sat. Nov. 9th We had 26 people present and Assistant Park Manager Wesley Jones. Jim Womble reported our T-shirts are selling fast. We presented Scott Elliot with his shirt. He was the member that gave us the idea to put the PSSP underground cave system on the back of the shirt, the shirt is pictured on Scott on our website www.peacocksprings.com, click on T-shirts. We also gave Mike Poucher a free shirt as a thank you for donating the use of the map to the committee. We also gave shirts to Rick and Bill at Cave Excursions and Cathy at Dive Outpost as a thank you for all the help they have given the committee since day one. |
| Rick Crawford reported that all is set for our New Year's Day raffle. We have some great prizes, 3 worth $500. The tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 We are selling tickets until the drawing at 1PM on New Year's Day at the Orange Grove Pavilion. Tickets are available at Cave Excursions, Dive Outpost, Fun2Dive Scuba and all committee officers. We will be serving a free lunch the day of the drawing. | Orange Grove Dressing Area-Wesley Jones informed us we are able to put a roof on the future dressing area. Bill Rennaker agreed to head this project, we have $328 remaining from the funds we raised for the dressing area at Peacock One. We approved spending an additional $328 if it is needed for the new dressing area. |
Interpretive Trail-Mike & Sandra Poucher organized a group of volunteers Sat. morning to start the radio locating for the trail. Some success was made at the end of the morning and we are very hopeful for the next planned session on Dec. 15. Keith Mille reported on the biological study of cave fauna and is planning a small class in the future so more of us can be informed as to proper procedure of counting and recording of cave critters. | Peacock Springs Safety and Line Committee, Kelly Jessop presented the proposed bylaws for the committee after an informative discussion we all approved the proposed bylaws and informed everyone we are accepting a brief resume from prospective members for the safety and line committee, email them to billjan@alltel.net or give them to any CSO Committee officer or park employee. We will place all applicants names on a ballot and CSO Committee members will elect the 7 at the December 14th meeting at noon at Orange Grove Pavilion. There was a proposal to purchase a flag for the park, Wesley informed us Ranger West can order a double flag pole with the USA and Florida flag from the parks budget. |
| Richard Blackburn presented us with a fund raising idea. We sell honorary ownership of the underground cave system at PSSP in 50 foot increments for $1 a foot. Shelly Orlowski graciously offered to be the coordinator for this fundraising project. Contact Shelly at orlowski@aquaspeleo.com. You can choose the cave section you would like to adopt, first come first serve basis. |
| And on a sad note we want to express our deepest condolences and sympathies to wife Nancy and family of Chester Sciechowicz. Chester was a CSO Committee member from the start. Chester passed away Friday November 8, 2002. Chester was not only a committee member but a fellow diver and a great friend to all those who knew him. He will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. |
