Peacock Springs CSO Committee Update November 2004

Our next meeting is Saturday Nov.13th at noon at the Orange Grove pavilion.
We had over 50 people attend the meeting and book signing for the book Taming of the Slough on Oct. 23rd. We were joined by Mr and Mrs Exley, Sandra Poucher, Manager Tom Brown and ISSP CSO President Craig Harper. We presented Sandra Poucher and Mike Poucher with plaques to show our appreciation for all the work they have done for PSSP over the years.
Jim Fishback also presented Mike with a plaque the Underground Trail Committee had received at the June meeting. We thank everyone for the time, money and work they given to Peacock Springs. It is greatly appreciated.
We approved the spending of two to three thousand dollars to complete the walkway to Peacock Two and Three. Park Manager Tom Brown has acquired $6200 for the walkway and we will provide any additional funds needed to complete the walkway. The walkway will look like the Peacock One walkway with steps at the water's edge with a handrail and a small platform in the water at three.
We have two kiosk sponsored to date. Bill Rennaker of Cave Excursions has sponsored the kiosk to be located at Orange Grove and Cathy Lesh of Dive Outpost has sponsored the Olsen kiosk. Dive Rite has expressed an interest in the Peacock One kiosk. If you are interested in sponsoring a kiosk along the interpretative trail, the price is $1000 for the whole kiosk or we will add several donations together to pay for a kiosk and will list the sponsors names in alphabetical order on a plaque to be placed on the kiosk.

We have had two more adoptions for the adopt-a-cave program. The CDS has adopted the Nicholson Tunnel for $500 and Mike McAuliffe has adopted the named section of Lower Orange Grove at $100. If you would like to adopt a section please email Cynthia Penney at silver5@alltel.net

We've sent along a picture of our new sweatshirts. They are in black or ash with the line arrow, gold line and Peacock Springs State Park on them. We have ordered hats with the same emblem on them and sweatshirts with an alligator with Peacock Springs State Park. We hope to have these at the meeting on the 13th.

If you are interested in ordering a shirt (they will make them in any color shirt and embroidery thread color for the arrow you want) please contact us at billjan@alltel.net The shirts are $20 each plus postage.

Ranger West informed us today the underground trail committee has two members entering the system tomorrow, Friday the 5th to see what the conditions are like. Keep your fingers crossed.
