Friends of Peacock Springs State Park
 CSO Committee

At 8 AM, Saturday Oct. 12 we met to collect the litter along the Luraville Road. We had 9 volunteers show up to help. We collected 30 bags, a small truckload of garbage. We want to thank these people for taking time out of their busy day to help us. Unfortunately we did not find the golden egg TJ hid there for us to find. I'm sure more volunteers will show up next time to search for the golden egg.
We held our monthly meeting at noon at the Luraville Country Store. We had 27 people attend. Jim Womble reported the winner of the T-shirt design contest is Scott Elliot. Scott submitted the idea to place the Peacock Springs State Park's underwater cave system map on the back of the shirt, it was digitally downsized to fit the entire system on the shirt.  The front of the shirt will have "Peacock Springs State Park". We feel this is a good selection and will work well with the development of the interpretive trail. Scott will receive a year pass to the park and a shirt. We will be selling the shirts in a few weeks, you can purchase them at the park from a committee officer or you favorite local dive shop. If you have an idea for a future shirt design please submit it to Jim at nprntng@aol.com If your design is used you will receive a free shirt.
Our collection of New Years Day Raffle prizes is growing.
We have a Halcyon 10 watt dive light $549, $500 Dive Rite gift certificate, $500 gift certificate from Cave excursions, 2 2person day passes from Bird's Underwater, $100 gift certificate from Gamble Scuba for a drysuit repair, mask snorkel & T-shirt from Extreme Exposure, masks & misc. from Ocean Odyssey, and Cave Diver's Forum has donated 4 long sleeved T-shirts. Our list is still growing.
We introduced the plan for the formation of the line safety committee. We tabled the discussion and will reopen it at our next meeting. We will vote on accepting the bylaws and pass out applications to the people interested in serving on the line committee, these people will serve as state park volunteers. The committee is being formed under the guidance of the PSSP management team.
